Log in to the eero app.
From the top of the home screen, select Internet.
At the bottom of the next screen, select Run Speed Test.
The results show the speed between your modem and the eero that’s connected to your modem. These speeds won’t change as you move around your home.
Internet speeds vary and can be impacted by things like the number of devices on your network, how old your device is, and interference from other devices. You can check your network’s speed by running a speed test from speedtest.net or using the Ookla speedtest.net app. Before running the test, make sure to disconnect from corporate networks or VPN connections.
The health check feature can help you quickly pinpoint any problems with your network.
Log in to the eero app.
Select Settings at the bottom of the home screen.
Click on Troubleshooting towards the bottom of the settings screen.
Select the issue that best represents what you’re experiencing.
Click on Run a health check. You’ll get your results and suggested next steps.
Log in to the eero app.
Select Settings at the bottom of the home screen.
Click on Software Version.
If there’s a software update, your network will automatically update as soon as it’s available. You can also choose to manually start the update.
To start the update, tap Update available.
eero uses a single SSID so that connected devices can live on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio frequency. Some devices are only compatible with 2.4 GHz. If you’re having trouble setting up a 2.4 GHz-only device, you can hide 5 GHz temporarily.
Log in to the eero app.
Select Settings at the bottom of the home screen.
Select Troubleshooting towards the bottom of the settings screen.
Click on My device won’t connect.
Click on My device is 2.4 GHz only.
Click on Temporarily pause 5 GHz. This will hide 5 GHz for 10 minutes.
eero Internet Backup helps keep your WiFi running if your internet goes down by automatically switching to a backup connection, like a mobile hotspot. As long as your equipment has power, eero will detect the outage and connect to your chosen backup network.
eero Internet Backup does not provide backup power. To stay connected during power outages, it’s necessary to use a battery backup (UPS), power generator, or equivalent backup power source.
Set up Internet Backup in a few steps:
Turn on your mobile hotspot and note the network name and password on your smartphone.
Open the eero app.
Tap Internet, then select eero Internet Backup (eero hotspot back up) and make sure it’s turned on.
Tap Add a backup network, choose Add manually, and enter your hotspot details that you noted in step 1 (from your smartphone).
You’ll see your backup network listed once setup is complete. You can add up to eight backup networks if needed.
eero Internet Backup uses mobile data while active. To help conserve data, you can choose which devices stay connected during an outage and limit access for others.
Open the eero app and log in.
Tap Devices, then select Online.
Choose a device you want connected during a backup.
Turn on Allow on Backup.
Repeat for any other devices you want to include.
By selecting only essential devices, you can reduce data usage and stay connected to what matters most during an outage.
